In recent years, refined building models have been widely used for urban regional seismic damage prediction, but its application is limited due to the computing workload and the cost when it is implemented on traditional CPU platform. However, GPU computing technology, which is developing rapidly in these years, provides a feasible way to solve this problem. In this paper, a computing program architecture based on GPU-CPU hybrid computing technology is developed, in which CPU is used for logical computing and assignment of tasks, while GPU is used for high performance parallel computing. Then, a simulating method for urban regional seismic damage is proposed by using nonlinear time history analysis,, which can significantly reduce the computing time with very cheep cost. The seismic damage prediction for a residential district is predicted with the proposed methodology to demonstrate its advantages.
