The main goal was to create a platform that would allow to try out new approaches and ideas while staying independent from hardware and operating system, being especially useful for interdisciplinary research groups. A special focus will be given on fast and interactive volume visualization and a survey on the use of Virtual Reality (VR) and especially haptic\/force feedback in medical applications.
