Proposed and implemented a rapid star map simulation method based on GPU. The method used the vertex shaders of OpenGL shading language to perform real-time calculation of star positions. Combined with the display list technology, the results of calculation were used to perform the simulation of the initial star maps, then the initial star maps as texture were passed to the fragment shaders, completed the Gaussian blur of the star maps in fragment shaders, and ultimately finished rapid star map simulation when there are many stars in ephemeris. The experiments show that this method is simple, rapid and effective and can meet the large field, wide range of magnitude, short sampling period and other requirements.
